Stevens not worried, downplays FBI probe

Anchorage Daily News | August 29, 2007

Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, in an interview with KTUU before he heads back to Washington, D.C., this week, said he’s secure in his standing with Alaskans and is confident he’ll survive a federal investigation, which included a raid on his Girdwood home.

“I’ve been involved in other investigations in my 39 years - maybe you don’t know that, but I have been involved in them - and we weathered the storms,” he told the station.

The senator, who has declined to talk in detail about the investigation, said he’s traveled the state during the current congressional break and hasn’t heard a derogatory comment, other than from the ADN. In a meeting with the ADN editorial board earlier in the break (reported in a Q and A here), Stevens also teed off on the newspaper.
